Future development trend of Tongxin PDUs High voltage DC and remote monitoring PDUs become benchmarks

May 20,2022

With the development of information technology, the scale of data services is expanding rapidly, especially with the massive application of high power and high integration devices, and "building economical and safe communication power supply system" has become the focus of attention of major communication operating enterprises. In the field of communication power supply, all parties in the industry chain have been exploring in order to adapt to the demand of "building an economical and safe communication power supply system", and high-voltage DCPDU High-voltage DC PDUs to seize the future power supply high ground.
The use of high voltage DC to power IT equipment (IP The use of high-voltage DC to supply power to IT equipment (equipment) has changed the traditional power supply mode and will be injected into the communications power supply industry with a brand new concept, which has naturally attracted the attention of the industry. At present, HVDC PDUs are quite popular due to their significant economic and social benefits, and soon to be accepted by the communications and IT industries. Operator and IT industry is just around the corner.
It is worth mentioning that in China the high-voltage DC power supply for IT equipment has come out of the laboratory and into the operator's existing network. Recently, the high-voltage DC power supply has been tested in hundreds of pilots and has been successful.
In an interview with Communications Industry News (Net), Ding Ruijun, senior engineer, product development manager at Breakthrough Electric, said that by replacing traditional UPS power supply, the average energy saving over the whole life cycle is 20 to 30% and the average investment saving is over 30%. What's more, because the high-voltage DC power supply system is simple and easy to maintain, and fundamentally overcomes the single point of failure problem that exists with UPS, the safety and reliability of the system is greatly enhanced.
Ding Ruijun told reporters that the efficiency of DC power supply is significantly improved compared to AC UPS systems. Firstly, AC UPS systems have an inverter link, which causes a power loss of around 5%. The DC power supply eliminates the inverter link and increases the efficiency of the power supply. Secondly, as the input is DC, there are no power factor or harmonic problems, reducing line losses. Finally, due to the simplicity of the parallel technology, a large number of modules can be used in parallel, so that the usage rate of each module can reach 70% to 80%, which is a qualitative leap compared to the AC UPS system.
This economic benefit due to energy saving, high efficiency and simple operation and maintenance has been fully demonstrated in various pilots, and the HVDC PDUs have been recognized by operators.
The "new favourite" for powering data centres
At the same time, as another new mode of power supply, remote control PDUs have also started to be used to power IT equipment in data centre rooms. In the data centre sector, which has always emphasized "green" development, the various advantages of remote operation are gradually emerging.
The Breakthrough Remote Monitoring PDU, a remote power centralized management solution designed and developed for data centre server rooms, is a remote power centralized management solution for A remote power centralized management solution for equipment and server clusters that can remotely monitor, measure, count and analyze the power consumption of data centre equipment, also making it the new choice for future communications power supplies.
Ding Ruijun introduced Breakthrough Electric's remote monitoring PDU solution, which consists of two parts: the PDU product and the monitoring software. It completely breaks the limitations of distance and geography and can be achieved from anywhere in the world via LAN , and Wide area networkSecurity monitoring, security warning and intelligent management of the power supply of the server room.
The Breakthrough Remote Monitoring PDU (Remote Monitoring Power distribution unit) is a network intelligent management power distribution and control device developed by Breakthrough Electric. Breakthrough remote monitoring PDUs are divided into two models: host and slave, which can be used in cascade (each host can monitor 32 slave units) and can be used individually.
"Previously, for faults such as dead equipment, maintenance personnel mainly used on-site troubleshooting and manual intervention, which resulted in wasted human resources and untimely fault recovery." Ding Ruijun said, "The use of Breakthrough remote monitoring PDUs allows for remote fault recovery in a timely and convenient manner."
In addition, Breakthrough Remote Monitoring PDUs can monitor load current, zero fire voltage, zero ground voltage and temperature. At the same time Breakthrough Remote PDUs namely provide a remote network interface and a Local  network interface, which also demonstrates great flexibility in use.
